UTC Sheffield City Centre’s Class of 2024 are going on to top universities and employers after receiving their academic and technical results today.

Students at our Ofsted graded ‘good’ technical school for 13 to 19-year-olds complete technical qualifications in engineering and advanced manufacturing or creative and digital media alongside A Levels.

The technical qualifications are equivalent to between one and three A Levels.

Students are progressing to a range of high quality destinations including top universities such as the University of Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam University and the University of Birmingham plus apprenticeships with leading employers including Sheffield Forgemasters, Volvo and the Royal Navy.

This year’s results have seen students achieve strong grades in A levels alongside their technical qualifications. 100% of students have achieved a pass grade in their technical diploma in both creative digital media (CDM) and engineering with over 80% achieving higher grades.  In the engineering certificate, 88% of students gained a Distinction or Distinction*.

Alex Reynolds, Principal of UTC Sheffield City Centre, said: “It’s wonderful to see our students’ hard work pay off as they achieve both technical and academic success. We are committed to technical excellence, which is central to everything we do. Alongside earning their technical and academic qualifications, our curriculum provides students with industry-specific and problem-solving skills that are highly valued by employers.”

Our UTC is backed by top employers who have shaped the curriculum and provide industry projects, work experience and work placements. It is one of two UTCs in the city.

Employers supporting the UTC include McLaren, Inspec Solutions, Lavender International, PES Performance, Rolls-Royce, Sheffield Hallam University and the University of Sheffield.

UTCs are government funded technical schools that provide academic and technical qualifications to match the skills needs of regional employers, supporting economic growth and employment.

Congratulations to all our students!
