UTC Sheffield City Centre students are celebrating moving onto top universities and employers after receiving their academic and technical results last week.

At the Ofsted graded ‘good’ technical school for 13 to 19-year-olds, students complete technical qualifications in engineering and advanced manufacturing or creative and digital media and A Levels.

The technical qualifications are equivalent to between one and three A Levels.

Students are progressing to high quality destinations including top universities such as Sheffield Hallam University and the University of Sheffield, University of Bristol, University of Lancaster, Loughborough University and apprenticeships with leading employers including BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, Mott MacDonald, Atomising Systems, SDA Design Associates and Sheffield Forgemasters.

This year’s results have seen students achieve excellent results in their technical subjects: 100% of students passed their technical qualifications in creative and digital media and engineering with 75% achieving higher grades in their diplomas.

Alex Reynolds, Principal of UTC Sheffield City Centre, said: “We are delighted to see our students are going onto high quality university places as well as apprenticeships and further training and would like to congratulate them on their fantastic success.”

He added: “There is growing recognition of the importance of technical education and skills and having employers at the heart of the curriculum; something that we have focused on from the outset.

“Our students leave with excellent technical skills and qualifications ready to move on to their next phase of their careers and the positive destinations that they are progressing to are testament to that.”
