Jack Battersby, Engineer

Jack is now a Control Systems Engineer after completing his studies at UTC.

He started working for Inspec Solutions on a Degree Apprenticeship in September 2023 which will ultimately lead him into a career as a Control Systems Engineer.

Talking about securing his apprenticeship: “I actually got the apprenticeship through UTC and its links with industry. I got the chance to go around and spend a day at Inspec Solutions and see what the role would be like. From there I knew I was interested, so applied for the position and went for an interview.”

Knowing he was interested in a career in engineering and being a natural problem solver Jack joined the UTC in Year 9.

On his overall his experience at UTC he said: “Coming here was one of the best decisions I’ve made. It’s helped me to figure out what I want to do and where I want to go on to. The range of engineering areas we get to study is broad but still specialised. It gives you a much better idea of a career than a traditional school.”
