Ethan, Engineering

Ethan heard about the UTC from friends at school and loved the idea of being able to specialise in Engineering.  After attending a couple of our Open Days, Ethan had all the information he needed and joined in Year 9. 

He has just received his GCSE results achieving 6s in Product Design and English Literature, 5s in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English Language and Maths, a Level 2 Distinction in Engineering Design and a Level 2 Merit in Engineering Manufacture,  

After these exams Ethan is returning to Sixth Form at UTC and continuing to study Engineering, Product Design and Applied Science. 

Ethan is certain he made the right decision to come to UTC, for him the environment has made a huge difference “Because it’s smaller classes, there’s less disruption, and I can focus on what I’m doing.  It’s great having more one to one time with the teacher too”. 

When talking about his time at UTC one of the highlights was his work experience with ‘Steps prosthetics’.  Ethan had the opportunity to meet clients, and work through their specification for the most suitable prosthesis or orthotic device to meet their needs. 

If he gets the chance, Ethan would like to return and work with Steps Prosthetics over the summer.
